YOUR PRIVACY
Reaction Room Privacy Policy
Effective date: October 5, 2026
Reaction Room is a Mac app that records your camera and microphone while you watch a video. Questions about this policy can be sent to help@reactionroom.studio.
Your recordings stay on your Mac
Reaction Room processes the video you choose, your camera picture, and your microphone audio locally. It saves recordings and editing files to your selected folder. Reaction Room does not upload these files to a recording service or include advertising or analytics SDKs. There is no Reaction Room account to create. Apple Account authorization is used for trial activation, purchases and restoration as described below.
A take folder can contain camera video, microphone audio, the watched video, a combined preview, separate audio tracks, and local timing or error information. Take metadata can include the original video’s file path, playback actions, and recording settings. These files remain on your Mac unless you choose to share them. Your chosen folder may be synchronized by a separate service you use, such as a cloud-storage provider.
Camera, microphone, and file access
macOS asks for camera and microphone permission. Reaction Room uses those permissions for the preview and recordings you start. It remembers your selected devices, microphone channel, commentary timing, save destination, and last chosen video locally. File references help reopen videos and folders you selected. Reopening the app does not automatically start a recording. You can change camera and microphone permission in macOS System Settings and choose different files or folders in the app.
Trial and purchase verification
Reaction Room uses Apple's StoreKit services to activate the free 48-hour trial, verify a one-time full-version unlock and restore purchases associated with your Apple Account. Apple handles purchase authorization and payment information. Complete any Apple sign-in or confirmation in Apple's purchase window.
The app reads Apple-verified purchase records, including the product, purchase dates and whether a purchase remains valid, to check access for new recordings. It keeps a local timing record to measure the trial's 48 elapsed hours, including time when the app is closed. Restoring a trial keeps its original end time. These checks do not upload your recordings or send purchase records or the local trial clock to the Reaction Room support mailbox or a separate licensing server.
Starting or restoring a purchase may need an internet connection to Apple. Recording does not require a hosting account or recording server. If you use the TestFlight beta, Apple's test purchases are free, apply only to the beta and do not transfer to the App Store version.
Optional support messages
The current app’s Report a Bug feature prepares a message addressed to reactionroomhelp@gmail.com, our support inbox. Website support uses help@reactionroom.studio, which forwards to the same inbox. You can review an email draft in your email app or copy the report for webmail. Reaction Room does not send the message automatically. The report description contains what you type.
Include app and device details is off by default. If you switch it on, the report shows the app/build version, macOS version, Mac processor family, app state, clip dimensions and orientation, selected camera and microphone names, microphone channel, and commentary timing. Automatic report details do not attach recordings, include file paths, reveal raw errors, or include device identifiers. You can add other information yourself, so review the message before sending it.
If you send a support email, the support mailbox receives your sender address, any sender name your email service supplies, the message, and any attachments you choose to send. This information is used to respond to you, diagnose the reported problem, and improve the app. Support messages are stored in Gmail and handled by the email services used to deliver them. They are not used for advertising or cross-app tracking.
Retention and deletion
Your local recordings remain in their folders until you delete or move them. Unfinished takes may retain raw recordings and local diagnostics so you can retry saving. Removing the app does not remove exported recordings. Copies in your backups or cloud storage are controlled by those services and your settings.
Support correspondence is retained while handling your request and as needed for troubleshooting follow-up or legal obligations. To request access to or deletion of a support message, email help@reactionroom.studio from the address used for that request. We may need to verify the request before acting. This cannot remove copies held by your own email provider or backups outside our control.
Other apps and services
Sending a take to Final Cut Pro opens a local editing document that references your saved media. Final Cut Pro and your email app are separate products with their own settings and privacy practices. App Store purchases, download history, and any diagnostic sharing you enable with Apple are handled by Apple. Reaction Room does not contain its own payment processor or automatic crash-report uploader.
Policy changes
If the app’s data practices change, this policy and the App Store privacy information will be updated. The effective date identifies the current policy.
